Job summary

The Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Elmhurst, NY is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our skilled nursing team. The role includes Saturday and Sunday coverage and independent patient assessments and therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities include initiating therapies, maintaining records, operating equipment, bedside treatments, and participating in quarterly nursing staff in-services.

Qualifications

• Licensed as RRT or CRT in the practicing state.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to evaluate and treat independently without direct supervision.
• Experience with tracheotomy and long-term care settings.
• Passion for geriatric population.

Responsibilities

• Completes assessments and implements respiratory therapy to rehab patients with various respiratory illnesses/diseases.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff every quarter.
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy.
• Experience in a long-term care setting.
• Follow procedures and protocols of the facility.
• Performs tracking, auditing and caseload management.
