Job summary

SingleStore is seeking a Support Engineer in the United States to tackle complex database issues, deep dive into internals, and help customers during outages. You will work with SREs, developers, and account teams to diagnose problems and improve processes.

The role emphasizes broad experience with MySQL-compatible databases, Linux sysadmin tasks, scripting in Python/Go, and strong communication. Expect a 4‑day workweek on a rotating weekend schedule across shifts.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of advanced customer-facing technical support experience.
• Experience with MySQL or MySQL-like databases (MariaDB, Aurora, etc) and SQL query optimization.
• Solid sysadmin/QA/testing skills: Linux, I/O, network throughput, large log files; familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Experience with a scripting language (Python, Bash, or Go).
• Familiarity with distributed systems and AWS/GCP; understanding deployment across multiple machines; bonus for bottleneck analysis.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide email and live technical support to enterprise customers as the first line of defense for complex technical issues, bug diagnosis, or outages.
• Identify and reproduce product issues, perform QA, and submit bug reports or feature requests to the Engineering team.
• Collaborate with software developers, sales engineers, and technical account managers to keep teams updated on current customer issues.
• Streamline and improve Support and Engineering processes, author internal run-books or public documentation, and improve efficiency.
• Ensure customers have a positive support experience during every interaction.
