Job summary

XTIVIA, Inc. is seeking a Jr-level SQL Server DBA for weekend coverage to support multiple clients. This remote, part-time role focuses on keeping production workloads online, optimized, and secure during weekend hours.

You will handle live sessions, troubleshoot on the fly, and perform critical maintenance tasks. Required 2–5 years of production support DBA experience, hands-on SQL Server 2012–2025 knowledge, and strong T‑SQL skills.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years working as a production support SQL Server DBA.
• Hands‑on experience administering SQL Server 2012 through 2025, including instance-level best practices (MAXDOP, cost threshold, max server memory) and security protocols.
• T‑SQL & Performance Tuning: write T‑SQL from scratch and read execution plans; identify parameter sniffing, resolve deadlocks, rewrite poorly performing queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Core DBA Tasks: backups, point‑in‑time restores, file management, patching instances.
• High Availability: experience with Always On AGs and WSFC.
• Data Integration: familiarity with SSIS packages.
• Communication: excellent verbal and written skills to explain complex engine behaviors to non‑DBA clients.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Urgent Response: first line of defense for SQL Server Agent alerts and urgent customer calls.
• Weekend Operations: applying CUs, index/statistics rebuilds, DBCC CHECKDB, and deploying schema changes.
• Clearing the Queue: work through ticket backlog and handoffs from weekday DBA team.
• Staying Connected: manage time remotely and communicate clearly in team channels during shift.
• Admin Tasks: record ticket and timesheet entries for client billing.
