Job summary

Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a weekend trainer to expand its Commercial Driving School. This part‑time role trains students to earn a Class A CDL and enter the trucking workforce, with possible Class B duties. Sessions run up to 12 weeks; orientation and DOT compliance are provided.

No benefits; up to 1500 hours per year. Applicants will join BRCC in a program focused on practical trucking skills and safety, with a strong emphasis on real‑world readiness and compliance with DMV/DOT

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with full background check and driving record check.
• Knowledge of the commercial driving industry and DMV/DOT regulations.
• Good verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with training commercial driving students to earn their Class A CDL and gain entry-level positions in the commercial driving industry.
• May assist with Class B instruction.
• Provide weekend training sessions for CDL students; sessions are up to 12 weeks long with multiple sessions per year.
• Full orientation and training for new instructors; DOT drug testing and medical certification requirements.
