Job summary

Community College of Allegheny County is seeking a part-time CDL Instructor at Boyce Campus. The position offers morning/afternoon shifts, with evenings and some weekends possible.

Instructors must hold a current CDL Class A license (Class B preferred) and possess strong teaching and safety knowledge. Responsibilities include delivering truck driving and safety instruction, coordinating schedules, maintaining records, and supporting the CDL Director.

Qualifications

• Instructors must be able to teach day and/or evening classes, including some weekends.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices.
• Must communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Maintain records and progress reports as required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students on safe pre-trip procedures and driving skills.
• Teach backing, parking, and docking techniques.
• Provide on-road instruction and safety guidance.
• Coordinate scheduling to optimize instructor time and equipment use.
• Maintain attendance records and progress reports for CDL Director.
• Assist in classroom teaching as needed and manage trucks and logs.
• Ensure trucks are fueled and maintained; coordinate maintenance with leasing company.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
