Job summary

Springfield Skilled Care Center is seeking an Activities Assistant to lead floor activities, prepare snacks, and coordinate events with residents under the center’s activity schedule. The role requires helping residents move to activity spaces, maintaining logs, and assisting other departments as needed.

The position involves weekend, holiday, and evening shifts, with opportunities to work in a supportive environment that values compassionate care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6 NCCAP college credits preferred.
• 500 hours of activity programming experience preferred.
• OTA or NCCAP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, pre-plan and implement floor activities based on center activity schedule.
• Use monthly calendar ideas to plan special floor activities.
• Prepare snacks with residents.
• Set up dining room tables for activities.
• Clean up after activities and complete required logs and charting.
• Keep activity areas clean, safe and clutter-free.
• Assist residents to and from common areas per care plan.
• Assist other departments with residents as needed.
• Weekends, holidays and evenings required.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

6 college credits in NCCAP-related study

500 hours of experience in activity programming

Certification as Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or NCCAP

Essential Functions of Activities Assistant:

• Prepare special snacks with residents
• Set up the dining room tables for activities
• Clean up after all activities
• Complete required logs and charting
• Keeping all activity areas clean, safe and free from clutter
• Assist residents to and from common areas as stated by their care plan
• Assist other departments with residents as needed and required
• Weekends, holidays and evenings required

Qualifications of Activities Assistant:

• High School Diploma or general equivalency is required
• 6 college credits in applicable study as required by NCCAP is preferred
• 500 hours of experience in activity programming is preferred
• Certification as Occupational Therapy Assistant or NCCAP Certification is preferred
