Job summary

USPI El Paso Center for Gastro & Endo is seeking a proactive Patient Access Representative to join our team at the El Paso campus. The role focuses on patient pre-registration, insurance verification, and front-desk coordination to ensure a smooth intake for gastroenterology procedures.

Weekdays only, with potential early mornings or evenings based on surgical scheduling. You will collaborate with physicians, schedulers, and departments to optimize patient flow while maintaining HIPAA compliance

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Experience in patient registration, verification and authorization in a medical center or comparable institution.
• Working knowledge of governmental regulations and other reimbursement criteria preferred.
• Ability to accurately type 40 WPM, complete forms, simple correspondence, handle payment transactions and enter data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with short timelines, prioritize and organize work, and complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
• Exceptional ability to interact and communicate effectively, tactfully, and diplomatically with patients, families, medical staff, co-workers, employers and insurance company representatives.
• Must have a pleasant disposition, positive attitude and possess the ability to maintain a cordial and professional approach during periods of stress.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clinical departments or Scheduling Representative to obtain scheduled appointments and/or orders prior to the service date.
• Pre-register 98% of all scheduled patients a minimum of three (3) business days in advance of their arrival.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into the computer system with high accuracy.
• Review MPI to avoid duplicate medical records numbers.
• Obtain signatures on forms and documents required by hospital and law.
• Ensure MSP Questionnaire is completed for every Medicare registration.
• Work with physician office staff and other departments to gather required information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using online programs and contact insurers for pre-authorizations when needed.
