Job summary

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street in Houston is seeking a motivated Patient Access Representative to join our team. We perform outpatient surgical procedures across Bariatrics, Gastroenterology, General, GYN, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Spine, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics.

Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Experience in patient registration, verification and authorization in a medical center or comparable institution.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clinical departments or Scheduling Representative to obtain scheduled appointments and/or orders prior to the service date.
• Pre-register 98% of all scheduled patients a minimum of three business days in advance of arrival.
• Enter patient demographic and insurance information with accuracy.
• Review MPI to avoid duplicate medical records numbers.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and documents.
• Collect co-payment, deductible or co-insurance at patient arrival.
• Log cash collected and maintain balanced cash at all times.
• Provide premier customer service to patients and families.
