Job summary

USPI El Paso Center for Gastro & Endo in El Paso, TX seeks a motivated Scheduler to join our team. The role focuses on planning and scheduling surgical and related appointments and managing credentialing workflows for facility staff.

The position requires weekdays only, with no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be needed based on the surgical schedule and day flow.

Qualifications

• Two years of direct experience scheduling surgeries is required.
• Administrative Assistant duties are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the master schedule coordinating doctors, anesthesia, labs and insurance carriers.
• Schedule surgeries and coordinate availability between Surgery Center and doctors' offices.
• Collect comprehensive patient data for charts including procedure type, supplies, and insurance information.
• Arrange all anesthesia services as per physician preference and availability.
• Ensure pre-certification and referrals are in order for Insurance Coordinator.
• Prepare daily billing packets for CSO.
• Coordinate with OR Nurse Manager and Administrator to adjust schedules as needed.
• Provide backup support for front office and other duties as needed.
• Cross-train to perform other job descriptions as required.
• Interact professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Follow center policies on safety, pain management, abuse/neglect, and incident reporting.

is seeking a motivated Scheduler to join our team. We have 1 OR room and 3 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling
• Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance carriers.
• Schedule surgeries, coordinates schedule between Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
• Gathers all detailed information for the patient's chart, such as type of procedure, supplies, special equipment required, insurance information, etc. Enters all patient information in computer system.
• Schedules all surgical anesthesia services required according to doctor preference and availability.
• Assures that pre-certification/referrals are in order for Insurance Coordinator.
• Completes billing packets for CSO on a daily basis.
• Confers with OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and /or Administrator to determine status of scheduled surgeries. Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Works closely with the Administrator and CSO Credentialing person when maintaining approved privileges for each physician or as documents are updated, etc.
• Provides relief for the front business office, Receptionist and all other business functions, as needed.
• Crossed trained to fill in and effectively perform all other job descriptions.
• Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patient/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
• Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance participate in emergency preparedness drills.
• Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care for all business equipment.

Qualifications

• High School education and/or equivalent
• Must have at least TWO YEARS direct experience with scheduling surgeries
• Administrative Assistant duties preferred
