  • Updates information on the assigned website to reflect university branding.
  • May administer a microcomputer-based Web server for a department.
  • Coordinates assigned projects and leads the work of other Web staff.
  • Develops reusable templates and components in the Modern Campus CMS (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, XSLT).
  • Designs CMS solutions that support governance and maintainability.
  • Documents templates and transformation processes for knowledge sharing.
  • Ensures WCAG 2.1 AA, ARIA, ADA, Section 508 compliance.

Description:

Supports a college or department website, including writing HTML documents, creating graphics, digitizing pictures, and inserting audio and video to enhance the look and feel of the website. Coordinates various web projects that uphold the image of the university to a worldwide audience. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

  • 1. Develops content and layout of assigned web pages, using graphics software specifically designed for publishing on the Web.
  • 2. Creates and edits graphics for web and print; digitizes images using scanning and digital camera equipment.
  • 3. Assists with quality and usability testing of web pages to ensure compliance with departmental quality standards.
  • 4. Coordinates with contacts and updates information on the assigned website to ensure that the university is well represented.
  • 5. May administer a microcomputer-based Web server for a college or department.
  • 6. Coordinates assigned projects and leads the work of other Web staff assigned to the projects.
  • 7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: "Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience."

Additional duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reusable page templates, snippets, components, and source code assets within the Modern Campus CMS using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and XSLT.
  • Design and implement scalable, user-centered CMS solutions that support web governance standards, content consistency, and long-term maintainability.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for templates, components, snippets, and transformation processes to support knowledge sharing and ongoing maintenance.
  • Ensure all web solutions comply with WCAG 2.1 AA, ARIA, ADA, Section 508, and university web governance standards.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
