Job summary

Carnegie is seeking an Assistant Director, Web Content to lead major website content projects for its higher education partners. This remote role involves building content strategy, guiding freelance writers, and delivering high-quality, on-brand content aligned with the Carnegie archetype.

You will explore AI-assisted workflows and lead thought leadership initiatives, including blogs and webinars. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and stay current with SEO trends

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent life/work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in professional writing and/or SEO and AEO.
• Strong editing and grammar skills, with close attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with content management systems like WordPress or Drupal.
• Experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and keyword research tools.
• Higher education marketing experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication and time management skills for a remote team.
• Comfort learning and switching between multiple technology platforms on a regular basis.
• Ability to work at a computer for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead large website content projects for Carnegie’s higher education partners, building content strategy and writing plans.
• Manage a team of freelance writers, reviewing work and maintaining timelines.
• Develop AI-assisted workflows to improve speed and quality of content.
• Oversee contractor onboarding, assignment of content and deadlines, and client deliverables.
• Write on-brand, SEO-friendly website content and metadata; conduct keyword research.
• Create thought leadership content: blogs, case studies, white papers, and webinars.
