Job summary

The College of Engineering at the University of Michigan is seeking a Web Content Specialist to evaluate and improve UM web properties. This hybrid, part-time role focuses on updating content and refining designs to strengthen SEO and usability while aligning changes with accessibility standards set by Communications & Marketing.

You will work with stakeholders, plan incremental updates, and lead broader improvements as the main point of contact.

Qualifications

• Experience with a CMS and creating accessible content.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to plan incremental updates and advise stakeholders.
• Familiarity with SEO and GEO concepts.
• Experience applying UX best practices in web environments.

Responsibilities

• Update pages using WordPress and Google Sites.
• Improve IA, site structure, and light UX to aid navigation.
• Refresh content, fix links, and keep information current.
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance.
• Identify SEO/GEO issues and implement solutions.
• Maintain branding and tone across pages.
• Lead updates and coordinate stakeholder engagement.
• Provide milestones and rationale to units.
• Collaborate with PM and train unit partners.
• Document guidelines for non-web staff.
• Stay current on web accessibility trends.
