Job summary

University of Michigan seeks a Web Designer/Administrator Senior to join the Equity, Civil Rights & Title IX Office. You will manage WordPress sites, lead accessibility initiatives, and develop a content strategy across multiple UM properties.

Collaboration with a small communications team is essential. You will design, deploy, and maintain web content, ensure WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, and guide content for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in web design/development, UX, or related field.
• 5+ years in web design or related role, preferably in education.
• Portfolio of original web design/work required.
• Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS, accessibility practices incl. ARIA, and front-end tech.
• Experience designing and launching websites.
• Experience with Mailchimp for email campaigns.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with non-technical audiences.
• Commitment to accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage website properties and ensure security, accessibility, and user-friendliness.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain content across UM websites (WordPress).
• Provide guidance on web content and accessibility (ARIA).
• Oversee information architecture, navigation, and content strategy.
• Perform routine WordPress maintenance and third-party extensions updates.
• Lead web content strategy and project management from discovery to launch.
• Collaborate on monthly newsletters using Mailchimp.
• Use GA4 data to inform content decisions and reporting.
