Job summary

The University of Michigan Equity, Civil Rights & Title IX Office is seeking an experienced Web Designer/Administrator Senior to manage multiple WordPress sites and drive a content strategy focused on accessibility and user experience. You will oversee design, deployment, and ongoing improvements across several university sites and an intranet.

The role requires collaboration with a four-person communications team, strong project management skills, and a commitment to accessibility standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in web design/development, UX, graphic design, communications, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant web design experience, preferably in an educational setting.
• Portfolio of original work demonstrating proficiency in design and deployment of websites and web content is required.
• Experience with designing, building, and maintaining websites from concept to launch.
• Experience with Mailchimp for email marketing.
• Proven ability to work independently to create accessible, secure websites.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Responsibilities

• Website Management & Maintenance (70%): manage site properties, ensure accessibility and security.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain content for ecrt.umich.edu, disability.umich.edu, pear.umich.edu, and intranet.
• Provide consultative guidance on accessibility sites and content strategy.
• Manage information architecture, navigation, and content organization.
• Routine WordPress/Pantheon maintenance and third-party updates.
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA compliance in collaboration with partners.
• Strategic Leadership & Project Management (20%): develop web content strategy across ECRT sites.
• Lead web projects from discovery through launch and improvements.
• Lead redesigns of primary sites and other properties as directed.
• Newsletter Production (5%): collaborate on monthly newsletters using Mailchimp.
• Analytics & Tracking (5%): use GA4 and other tools to measure performance.
