Job summary

San José State University is seeking a Web Content Strategist for a one-year benefited temporary appointment to lead the revamp of the sjsu.edu website. The role develops a refreshed content strategy, refines the brand voice, audits existing content, and writes new copy for the digital ecosystem.

The incumbent will weave storytelling into high-traffic pages, ensure accessibility, and collaborate with UMC, IT, and external agencies to deliver pillar content that aligns with the brand narrative.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree; experience substituted year-for-year.
• Four years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of marketing, branding and communications.
• Experience with large/complex websites.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify core audiences for content and re-organize content for UX.
• Weave brand voice throughout the site and digital ecosystem.
• Track content changes and log work for measurement.
• Establish content governance in partnership with UMC and IT leadership.
• Support recommendations on web governance and content strategy for the redesign.
• Ensure copy is optimized for search and accessibility.
• Audit content with crawlers, analytics, and SEO tools at scale.
• Coordinate reviews and edits with stakeholders across the University.
• Draft or refresh content across all sjsu.edu pages.
• Refresh stories and develop content that illustrates the brand.
• Coordinate content reviews and approvals.
• Identify opportunities to merge pages into pillar pages.
• Document and categorize content for revisions.
