Job summary

San José State University is seeking a Web Content Strategist for a one-year benefited temporary appointment to lead the sjsu.edu redesign. The role develops content strategy, weaves the brand voice into high-traffic pages, and collaborates with UX, SEO, and analytics teams to optimize for search and AI-driven answers.

Responsibilities include auditing content, rewriting copy, and creating governance to ensure audience-centered writing across the site, in partnership with UMC and IT leadership.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field; additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Experience with large or complex websites is preferred.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
• Experience with SEO/AEO, governance, accessibility, and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Identify core audiences and reorganize content for positive user experience.
• Weave SJSU brand voice across the website and digital ecosystem.
• Track content changes and log all content-related work.
• Establish a content governance strategy in partnership with UMC and IT leadership.
• Support recommendations on web governance and content strategy for the redesign.
• Audit content at scale using tools like SEMRush and Screaming Frog.
