Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Building Inspector Weatherization Assistant to perform inspections of residential structures for code and zoning compliance in the Dallas area. You will conduct inspections of HVAC, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, and safety features, and document findings for review.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent with at least 1 year of related experience, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; 1 year related experience.
• Knowledge of standard software applications.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to interact with the public and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Inspects units for compliance with codes and zoning ordinances.
• Records discrepancies, notifies owners/contractors, and issues stop orders for violations.
• Completes required paperwork and maintains records.
• Installs devices and equipment and maintains inventory.
• Receives and investigates complaints about code violations and zoning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
