Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Building Inspector for the TX Weatherization Assistant program. The role involves inspecting residential units for conformance to codes and zoning, documenting violations, and issuing stop orders where needed. The position requires an Associate degree and at least one year of related experience.

The inspector will handle paperwork, inventory, and customer inquiries, traveling to various site locations as required.

Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in industrial arts, business, or in a job related field of study.
One (1) year of work related experience.

Responsibilities

Inspects units for air conditioning, heating, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, safety, structural or other components to ensure conformance to code and zoning ordinances.
Records and reports discrepancies or code violations; notifies owners, contractors and/or construction workers; issues stop orders for serious violations; conducts final inspections to ensure compliance.
Completes required paperwork and maintains records.
Installs devices and equipment and maintains inventory.
Receives and investigates complaints regarding code violations and zoning ordinances; answers general inquiries, and provides information or referrals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
