Job summary

Dallas County Votes is seeking a Building Inspector to perform inspections on residential structures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and zoning ordinances. The role requires attention to detail, reliable documentation, and the ability to travel to different work sites within the Dallas area.

The candidate should have an Associate degree or equivalent in industrial arts or related fields, plus at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in industrial arts, business, or related field.
• 1 year of work experience in a related area.

Responsibilities

• Inspects units for air conditioning, heating, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, safety, structural or other components to ensure conformance to code and zoning ordinances.
• Records and reports discrepancies or code violations; notifies owners, contractors and/or construction workers; issues stop orders for serious violations; conducts final inspections to ensure compliance.
• Completes required paperwork and maintains records.
• Installs devices and equipment and maintains inventory.
• Receives and investigates complaints regarding code violations and zoning ordinances; answers general inquiries, and provides information or referrals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
