Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Building Inspector for the Weatherization Program in Dallas, TX. The role involves inspecting residential units to ensure code and zoning compliance and coordinating with property owners and contractors.

Responsibilities include documenting findings, issuing stop orders when needed, and completing paperwork. A related Associate degree and one year of experience are required; travel to various sites may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in industrial arts, business, or related field.
• 1 year of related work experience.
• Knowledge of standard software applications and ability to use them effectively.

Responsibilities

• Inspect units for air conditioning, heating, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, safety, structural or other components to ensure conformance to code and zoning ordinances.
• Record discrepancies or code violations; notify owners, contractors and/or construction workers; issue stop orders for serious violations; conduct final inspections to ensure compliance.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain records.
• Install devices and equipment and maintain inventory.
• Receive and investigate complaints regarding code violations and zoning ordinances; answer general inquiries, and provide information or referrals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
