Job summary

Bridgeton Holdings Group in Rahway, NJ is seeking an Experienced Hotel Engineer responsible for general maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, steam, gas, fire & safety systems. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will apply hands-on skills in a hotel setting to uphold safety and quality standards.

This role requires practical trade training, at least 2 years in hotel maintenance, and ability to lift and climb as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or trade school training.
• Min 2 years maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel.
• Experience in technology maintenance required; cleaning experience preferred.
• HVAC, electricity, or plumbing certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain and repair plumbing and electrical systems and replace worn parts.
• Respond to life safety issues including fire alarms and door locking systems.
• PM guest rooms daily and respond to guest requests during shift.
• Complete projects such as painting rooms and public spaces.
• Ensure cleanliness of public areas, internal areas, storage areas and parking lot.
• Assist other departments with moving furniture and unloading/storing supplies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hotel Engineers are responsible for performing general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality and safety standards are achieved. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you should possess the diverse knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, and HVAC refrigeration.

Essential Duties

• Basic knowledge of, and experience with carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems preferred.
• Knowledge of safety management principles; federal and state OSHA regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more throughout the property with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.
• Ability to walk, including climbing stairs, ladders, stand to a significant degree, kneel, reach, bend, handle machinery, lift, feel, talk, hear, and see.

Specific requirements of the role:

• Maintain and repair plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts, switches, and fuses.
• Ensure upkeep of all fixtures and equipment according to preventative maintenance schedule and record such maintenance in logbook.
• Respond to life safety issues including fire alarms, smoke detectors, door locking systems, etc.
• Replace or repair TVs, door locks, plumbing fixtures, IT systems & programs, etc.
• PM guest rooms on a daily basis and respond to guest requests during the shift.
• Complete projects as directed to include painting rooms & public spaces.
• Ensure cleanliness of public areas, internal areas, storage areas, and parking lot.
• Assist other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications: Qualifications:

• High school diploma and/or trade school coursework in related field.
• Min 2 years maintenance experience pref. in a hotel required. Hilton brand experience a plus.
• Experience in technology maintenance is required, cleaning experience preferred.
• Completion of apprenticeship under a professional maintenance technician is a plus.
• HVAC, Electricity, or Plumbing Certification is a plus.
