Under supervision, the role involves overseeing operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of essential infrastructure within NYC’s watershed, including reservoirs and treatment facilities, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent and three years of recent experience in operation, maintenance, repair, or inspection of watershed facilities; at least one year in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of reservoirs, aqueducts, groundwater systems, and water and wastewater facilities.
• Ensures adherence to environmental health and safety laws at all levels.
• Organizes personnel and teams to accomplish routine tasks, special projects, and emergencies.
• Estimates labor and material needs for regional projects.
• Directs operation and maintenance of equipment and approves material usage.
• Coordinates with other DEP units and external entities for work beyond regional capacity.
• Completes employee evaluations of subordinates.
