Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC team for waterfront infrastructure projects. You will work with a collaborative group on analysis, design, and rehabilitation of structural and waterfront facilities under experienced engineers.

The role offers growth in technical expertise, exposure to diverse projects, and opportunities to travel for project needs while developing professional competencies within a leading infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with structural coursework.
• 0–2+ years of structural engineering experience; internship or co-op in heavy civil, structural, marine, or waterfront design preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit or similar drafting platforms.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, timber, and composite structures.
• Develop design calculations, plans, specs, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Use analysis/modelling software for static and dynamic evaluations.
• Coordinate designs and drawings with engineers, drafters, and project managers.
• Assist with site visits, inspections, and related reports.
• Support construction administration with shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Participate in project/client meetings and develop independent judgment.
