Job summary

City of Oakland Park is seeking a skilled utility worker to install, maintain, and repair water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems. You may supervise a small crew and must perform tasks with minimal supervision while following safety protocols.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, MOT certification, and division-specific licenses; on-call and after-hours work including holidays and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with MOT cert and two years' utility experience.
• Requires certifications per division (Water/Wastewater/Stormwater) and a valid Class B license with Tanker endorsement or higher.
• Position may require on-call hours, holidays and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Participates in installing and repairing potable water mains, service branches, hydrants, meters, and drainage systems.
• Inspects mains, meters, valves, hydrants, and drainage for leaks and determine repairs.
• May supervise a small crew in televising and repair of stormwater or water lines.
• Completes reports and paperwork for work performed.
• Trains coworkers in equipment usage, safety, and maintenance techniques.
• Ensures safe work zones and compliance with safety requirements.
• Operates vehicles, trucks, asphalt roller, compactor, power boat and related equipment.
• Performs line locations upon request.
