Job summary

CITY OF PORT ORANGE seeks a skilled Maintenance Worker to support the water production and wastewater treatment facilities, wells, pump stations, and lift stations. You will assist in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and reuse lines, meters, hydrants, and backflow devices.

Responsibilities include trench work, equipment operation, hydrant flushing, and collaboration with plant operators and other divisions.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in maintenance work and/or training.
• Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B.
• Water Distribution System Operator License Level C preferred; obtain within first year of employment.
• Ability to read and interpret work-related documents; basic math; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics in maintenance and repair of water production and wastewater treatment facilities, wells, lift stations, and related infrastructure.
• Open and close trenches and perform repair work on water mains, sewers, manholes, valves and hydrants.
• Install and service meters, backflow devices, transceiver units, and service connections.
• Perform hydrant flushing, testing of water distribution systems and assist in emergency management operations.
