Job summary

RK&K is seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to lead a portfolio of environmental projects and building structures, manage budgets, and mentor staff from concept through construction.

The role emphasizes leadership, client liaison, and compliance with codes, working with multi-disciplinary teams in a hybrid environment around Raleigh. A PE license and 10+ years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural focus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years' experience in structural engineering, with emphasis on environmental facilities and building-type structures.
• Experience applying building codes and structural design standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, TMS 402/602).
• Experience using structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, RAM).

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver the structural engineering scope for a portfolio of environmental projects, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Lead project teams in preparing structural analyses, calculations, specifications, and contract documents.
• Assist in development of project scopes, fee proposals, and task schedules while tracking budgets, labor hours, and milestones.
• Provide technical direction on complex structural design tasks (reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry).
• Perform quality control reviews across structural deliverables and oversee QA for tasks.
• Assign resources, balance workload, and mentor engineers to support development.
• Coordinate with process, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil leads to resolve constraints.
• Serve as primary structural contact for clients, prime PMs, and subconsultants; participate in meetings.
