Job summary

RK&K is seeking a highly motivated Structural Project Engineer to join our growing municipal infrastructure team in the Charleston, SC area. You will lead structural analysis and design of water/wastewater facilities and building-type structures, taking ownership of design scopes from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural focus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on environmental and building-type structures.
• Proficiency applying building design codes and standards: IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, TMS 402/602.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, RAM).
• Strong understanding of lateral load paths (wind/seismic) and liquid-retaining concrete design.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and task management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structures.
• Prepare structural design calculations, plans, specifications, and construction documents for water/wastewater municipal projects.
• Coordinate structural systems with process, geotechnical, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines to resolve constraints.
• Provide technical support during construction, including review of shop drawings and RFIs.
• Mentor junior engineers and track progress and budgets.
• Develop engineering reports and repair strategies for deteriorated structures.
• Maintain Professional Engineer licensure and pursue ongoing professional development.
