RK&K is seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to join our municipal infrastructure team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate has 10–20 years of structural engineering experience across water/wastewater and building projects, with proven leadership, budgeting, and client-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural focus
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 10 + years’ experience in structural engineering, with a heavy emphasis on environmental facilities and building-type structures.
• Strong background in structural design and proven proficiency applying building codes and structural design standards: IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, and TMS 402/602.
• Strong understanding of lateral load paths (wind/seismic) and liquid-retaining concrete design.
• Experience using structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, RAM).
• Experience assisting with proposals or technical statements of work.
• Excellent project management, communication, team leadership, and client relationship skills.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver the structural engineering scope for environmental projects within schedule and budget.
• Lead project teams in preparing structural analyses, calculations, specs, and contract documents.
• Assist in development of project scopes, fee proposals, and task schedules while tracking budgets and milestones.
• Provide technical direction on reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, foundations, and liquid-retaining structures.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of structural deliverables and oversee QA for tasks.
• Mentor design engineers and balance resources across the team.
• Coordinate with discipline leads and PMs to resolve constraints.
• Oversee site investigations, condition assessments, forensic evaluations, and structural inspections.
• Develop engineering reports and repair strategies for deteriorated environmental structures.
• Oversee construction-phase structural services including shop drawings, RFIs, and field observations.
• Ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Maintain PE licensure and pursue ongoing professional development.
