Job summary

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager in California to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects within a dynamic consulting environment.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, coordinate design and field delivery, engage clients, and support business development while maintaining project scope, schedule, budgets, and quality. A hybrid model with two days in the office is offered; travel to project sites as needed. Salary ranges from $127,000 to $212,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
• 8+ years in water/wastewater infrastructure projects, including 2+ years in a project management role.
• PE license in California or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Travel to project sites and Kennedy Jenks offices as needed.
• Experience with site civil design, technical writing, and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and construction support while managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall delivery.
• Oversee engineering deliverables: plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical documents, contract documents, and project reports.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to address questions, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with project requirements.
• Work with in-house design teams across disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, architectural) and sub-consultants.
• Monitor financials, milestones, risks, and resource needs, and adjust course as needed.
• Lead client communications, meetings, and presentations to support strong relationships and successful outcomes.
• Shape proposal strategies, coordinate with marketing staff, prepare scopes and budgets, and support interview teams.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in hiring and recruiting efforts.
