Job summary

WesTech Engineering in Childress, Texas, seeks a Water/Wastewater Operations Technician to manage daily plant operations and monitor performance. The role emphasizes safety and reliability in a water treatment facility.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of water/wastewater experience, including at least 3 years in field operations.
• Must pass drug screen and background check.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work variable shifts.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts water sample testing to analyze plant performance and optimize efficiency.
• Maintains records and logs of all plant activities.
• Calibrates mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
• Diagnoses and repairs pumps, drive units, valves, and related components.
• Performs jar testing and chemical pump drawdowns, maintains chemical injection equipment.
• Communicates malfunctions clearly to minimize downtime.
• Monitors treatment parameters (TSS, pH, turbidity, ORP) to improve outcomes.
• Prioritizes safety with PPE and routine safety checks.
• Uses MS Office to document data and track performance.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Examines and configures gauges and flow meters to detect anomalies.
• Works collaboratively with team and customers for smooth operations.
