Job summary

City of Baltimore is seeking an Operations Technician Apprentice to train in operation, maintenance, and minor repair of plant equipment. You’ll work in a water or wastewater facility with rotating shifts and close supervision.

This three-year apprenticeship includes hands-on learning, safety training, and documentation of readings; applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Maryland driver's license.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent; Baltimore City permit required.
• Provisional driver’s license or learner permits are not acceptable.
• Upload a copy of your valid driver’s license with application.
• Three-year apprenticeship program; participants are under contract for that period.

Responsibilities

• Receive classroom and on-the-job training in the operation, maintenance and minor repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a water or wastewater treatment plant.
• Work under close supervision from a technical superior with rotating shift hours (evening, night, weekend, holiday and callback).
• Must follow safety procedures and learn to read meters and gauges, recording readings.
