City of Baltimore is hiring a Water Treatment Technician II to operate filters, chlorinators and related equipment in a water treatment plant or remote stations. The role includes rotating shifts, safety responsibilities and regulatory certifications.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED, three years of related experience, and valid Maryland driver’s license; certifications such as Water Treatment Class 4 and Fire Department HazMat are part of ongoing requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of experience in water treatment operations or related equipment.
• Valid Maryland Class C noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate filters, chlorinators and dry chemical feeders in a water treatment plant.
• Monitor gauges and meters; maintain records and prepare simple lab tests.
• Work rotating shift with evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and may be on-call.
• Must wear respirators and handle hazardous chemicals when required.
