Job summary

Mayor and City Council of Baltimore seeks an Operations Technician Apprentice to train in operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment at a water/wastewater plant. You will learn on the job under close supervision and work rotating shifts with varied hours, including evenings and weekends.

The role involves exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures and strong physical effort, with no supervisory duties and a probationary period as part of the program.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical materials.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to learn to read meters and gauges and record readings.

Responsibilities

• Receive classroom and on-the-job training in operation, maintenance and minor repair of equipment in a water or wastewater plant.
• Work a rotating shift with evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
