Job summary

DeKalb County Government in Georgia seeks a skilled maintenance technician to perform mechanical maintenance, fabrication, overhaul and repair of equipment within water and wastewater facilities under direct supervision. This safety-sensitive role requires adherence to the County's drug and alcohol policy.

The incumbent will troubleshoot mechanical systems, fabricate parts, weld, operate metalworking tools, monitor safety standards, and input SCADA data to generate essential reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in water/wastewater facilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; must obtain a State CDL Class B within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews system designs, specifications, and products and recommends changes in mechanical systems in water/wastewater facilities; troubleshoots and performs preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Fabricates and machines repair parts; welds steel, brass and aluminum; operates lathes, mill/drill presses and other metalworking tools; locates leaks and detects defects.
• Monitors, reviews and validates work practices for quality control and safety adherence.
• Inputs and gathers data from SCADA and runs reports as necessary.
