Job summary

DeKalb County Government in Georgia seeks a skilled Plant Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, fabrication, overhaul and repair of mechanical equipment across water and wastewater facilities. The role requires diagnosing problems and completing repairs independently, with a focus on safety and quality.

You will weld, machine parts, operate lathes and drill presses, monitor SCADA data, and train entry level crew on safety practices.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and three years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in water/wastewater facilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; must obtain a CDL Class B license within 6 months of employment.
• Experience with mechanical repairs, fabrication and safety practices in water/wastewater environments.

Responsibilities

• Review system designs and specs for improvements to mechanical systems in water/wastewater facilities.
• Troubleshoot problems and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Fabricate and machine repair parts; weld steel, brass and aluminum; operate lathes, mill/drill presses and power tools.
• Monitor safety practices and train entry level crew on safety standards and procedures.
