Job summary

DeKalb County Government is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to oversee mechanical repair, fabrication, and troubleshooting in water and wastewater facilities. You will coordinate daily tasks, supervise crew members, and ensure adherence to safety protocols while performing preventative and corrective maintenance.

Responsibilities include fabricating parts, welding, operating shop equipment, and using SCADA data in reporting.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of a training program or apprenticeship in the mechanical or electrical trades.
Four years of experience in repair of water and wastewater treatment plant machinery or related field.
Equivalent education, training, and experience may satisfy requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate daily work activities of crew or co-workers; confer with supervisor on priorities.
Organize tasks, monitor progress, and inspect completed work for quality and safety.
Troubleshoot problems and recommend corrective actions.
Fabricate and machine repair parts; weld steel, brass and aluminum; operate lathes and drills.
Monitor safety practices and train crew on safety standards; input data into SCADA and generate reports.
