Job summary

DeKalb County seeks a skilled maintenance technician to perform repair, fabrication and overhaul of mechanical equipment in water and wastewater facilities. You will lead crews, coordinate tasks, inspect work, and ensure safety while using SCADA data as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, an apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical trades, four years of relevant experience, and a valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL Class B must be obtained within six months of employment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a training program or apprenticeship in the mechanical or electrical trades.
  • Four years of experience in repair of water and wastewater plant machinery.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL Class B within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of crew; assigns priorities and inspects completed work.
  • Repairs, fabricates and machines parts; operates lathes and welders; checks for leaks and defects.
  • Monitors safety practices; trains crew on safety methods; reviews SCADA data as needed.
  • Troubleshoots, performs preventative maintenance and corrective repairs.
