Job summary

City of Chardon’s Division of Water and Wastewater seeks a Maintenance Worker for 2nd shift to operate and maintain facilities, read meters, and assist in repairs. This role involves field duties, meter work, and responding to emergencies.

Work hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with benefits and OPERS retirement. Minimum one year in public works or public service is required along with a valid Ohio CDL or ability to obtain one on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with at least 1 year in public works or public service.
• Valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and operation of water and wastewater facilities.
• Checks meters, reads and repairs water meters and service lines.
• Assists with repairing hydrants, mains, and related appurtenances.
• Maintains grounds and facilities, responds to emergencies.
• Works with other divisions as directed.
