Job summary

City of Mesquite is looking for a skilled crew lead to supervise a team performing maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems in Mesquite, TX. You will lead, train, and participate in field work, ensuring safe, reliable service and coordination with contractors.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant experience; Texas Class A license may be required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of water distribution or wastewater collection experience.
• Backhoe experience preferred; state certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train and review the work of an assigned crew.
• Plan and direct maintenance of water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Operate and maintain equipment; perform minor repairs and tune-ups.
• Inspect mains, lines and meters; assist in reconnections and readings.
• Oversee installation/change/repair of mains, sewer lines and manholes.
• Locate utilities, respond to emergencies and ensure public safety.
• Coordinate with outside contractors; keep tools and equipment stocked.
• Train staff in maintenance methods and proper equipment use.
• Record work performed and estimate materials for jobs.
• Attend to public inquiries and maintain courteous service.
