Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Summer Intern in Civil Engineering to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role offers exposure to multidisciplinary teams, design guides, and field-analogous tasks while you pursue your ABET-accredited civil engineering degree.

You’ll engage with design professionals, learn through hands-on tasks, and support project execution, scheduling, and cost estimation, gaining exposure to real-world engineering challenges.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering program with emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search).

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
