Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. in McAllen, TX is seeking a Water/Wastewater Intern to support drainage and stormwater analysis, water resources planning, and pipeline/facility modeling. You will assist with design, planning, and regulatory tasks under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

The internship runs June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027, full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p Monday through Friday. Interns are paid hourly, and housing is not provided.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
• Experience with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is required
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team building skills
• Self-motivated and strong organization skills

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Help design drainage and stormwater analysis and design
• Support Water & Wastewater Utility projects including pipeline and facility modeling, planning, process, design, and construction
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects
• Perform drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
