Job summary

Middlesex Water Company is seeking a Utility Worker II to support installation of water services and maintenance of hydrants, valves and mains. The role requires working with team members, following safety procedures, and using equipment and GIS tools.

Responsibilities include repairs, field data entry, and on-call overtime as needed. This position emphasizes safety, customer interaction, and adherence to company standards while performing outdoor work in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Must work well with others and follow supervision.
• Excellent communication and safety awareness.
• Willing to learn to operate backhoe, trencher, tamper.
• CDL-A license or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Install saddles, valves and piping for water services.
• Repair services, mains and fire hydrants.
• Verify Miss Utility ticket before digging with equipment.
• Uncover utilities before digging with shovel and caution.
• Assist in using GIS to locate valves and components.
• Assist in using sewer maps to locate manholes and flow direction.
• Record materials used and update work orders.
• Backfill, compact and seed disturbed areas.
• Operate tampers to compact areas in roads/parking.
• Inspect fire hydrants and valves for operation.
• Respond to sewer backups and clear blockages.
• Occasional overtime and on-call duties as required.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
