Job summary

Middlesex Water Company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III to support safe and efficient preventive maintenance, capital replacement, and emergency repairs across our water treatment facilities and related infrastructure. This role combines mechanical maintenance with field operations to ensure equipment reliability and system performance at multiple sites.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid NJ driver’s license, and readiness to work outdoors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must maintain a valid NJ driver’s license.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and/or maintenance experience preferred.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in extreme climates.
• Good verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and promote company safety policy.
• Conduct facilities checks and visual inspections of equipment to report deficiencies or required repairs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and equipment cleaning.
• Assist with basic mechanical repairs under supervision.
• Support capital replacement projects and equipment installations.
• Provide field maintenance support across treatment facilities, wells, storage tanks, and interconnections.
• Record maintenance activities in CMMS (WACS) when trained.
• Maintain tools, materials, and inventory assigned to tasks.
