Job summary

Middlesex Water Company is hiring a Distribution Utility Worker III in Delaware to support maintenance, repair, and inspection of fire hydrants, valves, and water service lines. You will assist with meters, pits, and sewer-related tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and eligible for CDL within 1 year of hire.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 1 year.
• Ability to learn operate equipment such as backhoe, trencher, tamper and sewer snake.
• Basic computer skills to complete timesheets and work orders.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to interact with customers professionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation of water service connections.
• Assist in repair of sewer collection systems.
• Uncover utilities as directed by crew leader.
• Backfill, tamp, rake, and seed disturbed areas.
• Use mechanical tampers to compact areas.
• Assist in repairing water leaks and meter pits.
• May work overtime as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with fire hydrant inspections and repairs.
• Help locate and map water distribution valves and components.
• Respond to freeze-ups and resolve issues.
• Assist with water main flushing operations.
