Job summary

Baraboo Water Utility in Baraboo, WI seeks an experienced O&M technician to perform skilled work on water mains, hydrants, meters, and storage facilities. The role requires physical ability to lift, operate equipment, and follow safety procedures.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or GED, 2 years of related water utility experience, and must obtain DNR Class 1 operator certification within 12 months. Weekend rotation and emergency response duty are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years of closely related responsible experience at a water utility or with a plumber or related trade.
• Must be able to maintain certification by the DNR as a Class 1 operator with subclasses Groundwater & Distribution. If not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Installs and services water mains and services, fire hydrants and valves; places barricades; excavates trenches for main and service repair and placement; applies temporary patches to street surfaces following repair.
• Monitors, operates, and maintains water wells, booster stations, and storage reservoirs including ancillary equipment such as chemical feed systems, emergency generators and auxiliary engines.
• Locates and reads industrial, commercial, and residential meters on an assigned route.
• Adhere to confined space procedures and maintain training.
