Job summary

Baraboo Water Utility seeks a skilled O&M worker to perform operations on supply wells, distribution systems, storage facilities, boosters, and meters. Requires HS diploma or GED, Wisconsin driver’s license, and ability to interact with regulatory agencies and residents.

Preferred candidates have 2 years in water systems or plumbing and must obtain WDNR Groundwater & Distribution licenses within 12 months. Must live within 30 minutes of Baraboo and be able to handle physical tasks and emergency

Qualifications

• Read and understand water system maps and valve and hydrant records.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and the public.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Installs and services water mains and services, hydrants, and valves; excavates trenches for repair.
• Locate breaks in utility lines to support repairs.
• Read meters on assigned routes and monitor wells, booster stations, and storage reservoirs.
• Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and assets.
• Adhere to safety and confined-space procedures.
