Job summary

The City of Moline is seeking a skilled Water / Sewer Maintenance Technician to keep our water and sewer systems in top condition. You will work in the field, perform repairs, conduct tests, and respond to emergencies to protect public health.

Ideal candidates have at least two years in mechanical maintenance related to water/sewer systems and hold or are pursuing relevant certifications. This role requires physical work and safe operation of heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in water distribution or construction tech is a plus.
• Minimum two years' mechanical maintenance experience involving water/sewer systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete system repairs following SOPs to protect public safety and system integrity.
• Collect water samples and test chlorine residuals.
• Respond to emergency callouts for water/sewer issues and related hazards.
• Locate underground utilities using maps and detection tools.
• Operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, and pump trucks.
• Install, repair, and maintain water mains, service lines, and hydrants.
• Inspect and disinfect new water main construction.
