City of Aurora is seeking qualified Inspectors to support the Watch & Protect program, ensuring no unauthorized work on the city’s water transmission system.

Salary to be commensurate with experience. The hiring range for this position is $24.97 - $31.22 per hour. This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate can work up to 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, accrue paid time off, and receive 11 paid holidays. The deadline to submit applications is October 12th, 2026. Physical Demands: Medium work lifting no more than 50 pounds (with or without assistance) at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects Some lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds Regular walking and standing A full range of body movements including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing Foot/eye coordination to operate a motor vehicle to perform field work Vision to read plans, specifications, and other written information Frequent hearing and speech communication with employees, contractors, and residents Work Environment: Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and over all types of terrain Equipment Used: Operates a motor vehicle; survey equipment; measuring equipment such as tapes, levels and micrometers, camera and personal computer. This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
