Job summary

The Metropolitan District (MDC) is seeking an experienced executive to oversee a large division of its operations. You will direct objectives, supervise staff, and make technical decisions on flow management and transmission main operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering with 10 years of water treatment experience.
• Minimum 3 years in supervisory or managerial roles.
• Connecticut Class IV Operator Water Treatment Plant Certificate or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Connecticut Professional Engineer License is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs the objectives and operations of a large work division and reviews reports to direct corrections.
• Makes technical decisions on flow management and transmission main operations.
• Analyzes division effectiveness; prepares or approves reports and manages maintenance work.
• Monitors compliance with state and federal regulations and plans for regulatory impacts.
• Develops budgets and reviews budgets; controls expenditures and recommends transfers.
• Counsels employees, administers discipline, interviews candidates, and reviews performance.
• Coordinates operations with other District functions and government agencies.
• Directs operation of a water quality laboratory and maintenance of dams, reservoirs, and recreation activities.
• Coordinates emergency action response on water supply facilities.
• Performs other related duties as required.
