Job summary

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is seeking an advanced Distribution Operator to inspect, operate, maintain, and repair facilities and equipment used in potable and reclaimed water systems. You will lead project staff on assignments and adjust the distribution system to meet quality and regulatory standards while responding to leaks and emergencies.

The role requires knowledge of pumps, valves, meters, chemical treatment, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience operating pumps, valves and distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations for handling hazardous materials.
• Ability to read meters, gauges and charts accurately.
• Understanding of water quality regulations and compliance.
• Documentation and reporting of field operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate potable and reclaimed water systems; inspect and maintain equipment.
• Read meters, gauges, and control parameters to regulate flows and pressures.
• Respond to water main breaks, leaks, and emergencies with safe shutdowns and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, engines, and related facilities.
• Collect and analyze water samples to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
• Document operations and coordinate with other districts and contractors.
